New Years DIY

New Years is so soon which means the end of 2016. So, lets make some amazing DIYs to conclude 2016 and move onto 2017. I put lots of work into these DIYs for you all and tried to make them really nice looking and easy to make at the same time.

DIY Flag Banner:

To make this flag banner really easy, I found a template online that you can either cut multiple out or cut one out and use as a stencil. I used both ways and combined them together and you really couldn't tell. I got them from this website.
http://rejuvaluxs.org/banner-template.html

Another option is to look up like "flag banner stencil" or "banner template" on google and pick whichever one you like best out.

When printing these out, you can either print them on the page and keep it portrait or change it so it is landscape. This is actually important because printing it portrait will make the stencil smaller whereas if you print it landscape, your stencil will be soooooo much larger.

On this banner we will be writing "Happy New Year" And I originally wanted to use some letter stencils I already had, but then I couldn't find them and I thought maybe that's actually a good thing because not everyone has letter stencils. So I went online to look for letter stencils and I came across a capitals letter sheet that I thought was perfect.

Same thing as the flags stencil, I just still used portrait style when printing. I just searched "letters stencils" on google to get to this picture and there are also many other options to choose from. I am not including the url because I am not 100% sure if it is going to work. But if you search "letters stencils" on google and come across this picture, this is the one I used.

Image result for letters stencils

Since I didn't have an exacto knife and also I really didn't want to deal with trying to get everything super precise and try to get the middle part in some letters, I just cut those out.

And then I positioned the letter stencil on the flag banner and colored in the letter stencil with marker of my choice. And it actually turned out really well.

DIY 2017 numbers:

For the numbers I just hand drew all these numbers and I used a half sheet of paper so the numbers would be pretty large and visible. You could keep the numbers just the way they are now, but I decided to step it up and make it look super sparkly and amazing by using paint and glitter.

So adding the paint is pretty unessesary. But I did use a clear-ish glitter which looked best on top of a color paint. But feel free to use any color paint or glitter. Also if you are doing both paint and glitter like I did, to save time and money, you can actually apply the glitter on the wet paint so there is no need for glue.

The finished product turned out really good just like the flag banner so here is a picture of that.

lol photographing skills are like -100% for the past two pictures.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the next thing I did was attach these thing to my wall with WASHI TAPE. Washi tape is really great for those parents who worry about having tape on their walls and worrying that it will rip off the paint or things like that. And I don't blame them, but this is a perfect solution.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to now talk to you all about New Year's. It is known that once the clock strikes midnight that you kiss someone. I just want to let you all know that you should not fell pressured to kiss someone especially if you are not in a relationship. I mean when you were little you didn't kiss someone so why should you feel the pressure to do it now.

And please if you are going to be drinking please take it easy. I know this is probably stupid to hear from a 14 year old but its true. Just be cautious and don't drink so much that you literally black out drunk or do something that you might regret.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you all enjoyed this post. I put a lot of work into this post so I hope you all enjoyed it. I also hope you all had an amazing Christmas and whatever holiday you celebrate and have a happy new year!

21.My Plan for Winter Break

Blog:
Definitely one of my main plans is to not worry about blogging. I mean it is a LOT of work just doing daily blog posts everyday and keep them somewhat interesting. I'm thinking next week (Dec 28) I will possibly have a New Year's mega post so I can have a little bit of a break. Then I think I will be taking a week or so off from blogging and I hope you all don't mind. We still have our Twitter @chicslifestyle which I will be tweeting during the week when I am not doing blog posts. Our Twitter is a little way to get a sneak peak into my life and sometimes get a preview of what the next post will be!

Life:
I am going to be spending the majority of my break with family. I will be traveling and spending time in the snow. Just taking this time to relax since I don't have school and I have a mini-ish break from blogging.

I'd like to know what kind of posts you want to see in 2017. After Blogmas I will be making a master plan for blog posts on 2017. Here are some questions I want you all to answer in the comments.

What day of the week should I post blog posts?
Should I do multiple blog posts a week?
What kind of posts do you want to see?

I hope you all have had a fantastic year this year, don't worry we still have about 4 more posts left for 2016.

20.Time to Test it! Circular Calendar?

I was browsing tumblr the other day when I came across this picture. I thought it was so new and interesting and a different twist on how calendars are usually supposed to be like.

I was like, "this is so smart!" The month is on the most inner circle, the days of the week are in the middle circle, and the days are on the outside.
While looking at this I thought it was really cool, but also I thought that the way the person wrote everything (basically perfectly) it made it look so much better.

So I tried this out, and this is how it turned out

I'd say it is no where near as good as the picture I was going off of. I think it would work better if I had a compass to make circles. Also I thought that the circle was so big and I would go around and finish before I got all the way around, so I made some of the sections huge. And then I ran into the problem where I just needed one more section. I also made the center area a bit too large. I also missed the days of the week part so I just split the outer circle in half instead of making a whole new layer because I was lazy.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. If you try this out you can tweet me your attempts comment below how it went.

19.Things to do with snow

I think it is pretty safe to consider myself as a snow enthusiast. I love snow so much. And it did actually snow a lot on Saturday so I was having a blast (besides the fact that I had a cold).

1. Dog Pee in the snow

All you need for this is some water and yellow dye. I did this prank last year and all you need to do is lightly drizzle the yellow water onto the snow. And then there is a mysterious animal that peed in your yard.

2. Blood

Okay this one is probably not as good. But you do the same thing and put red food coloring into water and put small drips into snow. I'm not quite sure what your explanation could be for this.

3. Snowman

This is a classic. Everyone loves to make a good snowman. Roll out 3 balls and stack them on top of each other and add any kinds of decorations that you desire.

4. Snow Angel

Another classic, but always super fun. I find it pretty relaxing. Just looking at the sky while laying down in the snow.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and will do one of these things if it snows near you. Comment down below more things you can do with snow.

18.Last Minute Gift DIY

Omg Chrsitmas is just 7 days away!! Alsoooo have you checked out our Twitter @chicslifestyle? On our Twitter you can see a little bit more into my life than when I do blog posts. So since Christmas is so close, I have a few last minute DIY gifts.

1. Spa Kit
This is a pretty simple kit. Get your friend some nail polishes, nail care, face masks, moisturizers, etc. This is too help your friend relax. Everyone could use a spa day so this is perfect for everyone.

2. Bath bombs
Bath bombs are pretty cool and relaxing. They can also take some good pictures with them. Showing off the array of colors coming from your bath bomb.

3. A Memory book
This is probably a better gift to give your friend on their birthday, but for this, you gather gifts of you two together or just of her and memories. Something that your friend can pick up when they are having a bad day and smile.

4. Hot Chocolate Mix
All you need for this is a mason jar, hot chocolate mix, marshmallows, and possibly candy canes, and put them all together in a mason jar to give your friend a beverage to stay warm.

I  hope you enjoyed this post. I'm sorry it is short, but if you saw what I tweeted yesterday, I do have a cold so I am not feeling too well at the moment.

Don't stress,
-Caroline

17.I Try to Make Tumblr Outlines

Ugh. I just can't with the amazing world of tumblr. People come up with such amazing things and are so creative! I mean look at this!

They all just look so realistic. So naturally seeing this, I wanted to see if I could do this myself. So I went onto YouTube and looked at multiple different videos to see what people used. Some people used the app Adobe Draw, but you need an account for that. I also tried the app PicsArt. So I followed a tutorial using that app and I used a Kylie Jenner picture from her Instagram.

I thought that it was going to turn out so well based on the picture below and how I was doing. Something I wonder is how long it takes to make tumblr outlines. I had little patience to do just the face.

Let's just say when I removed the picture (there were different layers) I was really disappointed. I thought that just on my first try I would get this sooo perfect looking. I also tried to make myself feel better by saying that it didn't turn out well just because I was doing it on a phone. So my next plan was to try it on my mom's iPad mini...which never happened.

Please if you have any tips, please let me know how to make my outlines better. Stay tuned for more Blogmas posts! During the week I post at 3:00pm EST and on the weekends I post at 12:00pm EST. I will be posting daily until December 24.

16.DIY Pusheen Shirt Tutorial

So I know in my past Pusheen DIY I did many options with iron on transfers. I quickly added a picture of a shirt I created with fabric markers. I was asked if I could make a tutorial of this DIY.

For the shirt I created, I used this design. What is great about this DIY, is that you don't need to flip the image at all. Here was my finished result, and the actual picture by the finished result (sorry the reference picture is black and white, I don't own a colored printer).

For this tutorial, I will be using this picture of Pusheen. Once again, you can use any Pusheen picture you would like. Click any of the word Pusheen, for I have put a link to the Pusheen website on every single one (comment below if one isn't linked). Also I recommend searching Pusheen on Google, there are so many options.

The good thing about this picture is that it is really huge. I know this one isn't but check this link out http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/383/575/834.gif.

So First, I printed out the picture. Black and white for this is fine, because you can just have a reference picture on the computer or mobile for color reference. Then I put the printed picture inside my shirt and put my shirt up to a window to trace the lines. I used black fabric marker to trace the lines and colored sections that were colored on the picture.

Sorry I did not have a t-shirt to do the design but there is an example above where I did it with a mermaid Pusheen picture.

15.I Attempt to Make Studyblr Notes

It’s no secret, almost everyone has seen the amazing notes that people take on tumblr. All those studyblrs with tips on how to study and SUPER satisfying looking notes. I mean these people have perfect handwriting. I would do anything to have notes like that! From the amazing calligraphy and writing to the amazing hand-drawn pictures. One can only wonder, do people who do these notes get better grades? It is most likely everyone else’s dream to be able to create notes like these people do. So, I decided to take a shot at making notes like this for my school work to study for some upcoming tests and quizzes. Here are some tips that I have gathered from multiple different studyblrs on tumblr on how to make good notes.

1111.PNG
2222.PNG
333.PNG
3333.PNG
4444.PNG

important.PNG

This information was pretty helpful with a good breakdown of how people made their notes. But I also wanted to know what kind of materials people use. Because I have seen instagram calligraphy videos where they just use crayola markers. Then for the actual note taking part I have seen people use MUJI pens. So I then  found a post from a studyblr about what materials could be used and some techniques with writing.

tips.PNG

I thought it was so cool how you could do such amazing things with materials you have at home. Out of all the pens I think I like the MUJI pens the best. Although it is pretty annoying that you can only find them in specific locations. Like New York or France, those are the only 2 locations I know of. So, if you are like me and don’t have a local location (ehm… what is going on Boston??) you should go on amazon to get some.

Then next, thing I wanted to find out was how to do the amazing calligraphy!! Like come on! Here is an example.

ooh.PNG

Satisfaction supreme! Well anyway, I again found in a studyblr how to create some nice calligraphy letters.

lettering tips.PNG

Super helpful! Now let’s get to note taking… I first started out with my materials. I had paper, pens markers, and more.

Then I made my notes and I think they turned out pretty well.

IMG_3156.JPG

And I think it worked! I ended up getting an A on my Geometry test and that helped out my grade! I think it is also important to know what your style of learning is.

Good luck studying,

-Caroline

14.Holiday DIY

The holidays are so close, yet so far. And thoughts of vacation are taking over my brain!

Today I am going to be showing you all some more DIYs for the holidays. I am sorry that these posts are not great quality. It is honestly hard to be doing posts like this in the middle of the week. I should have planned way better for this.

1. Wrapping Paper

Supplies:
Paper
-Markers
-Stamps
-Ink pads

There are many different ways you could make wrapping paper. You could up-cycle a brown paper bag. Using the inside of the paper bag you could do a simplistic design like snowflakes, do a stamp design, etc. Get creative!

Design Ideas:
-Polka Dots
-Snowflakes
-"Happy Holidays"
-"Merry Christmas"
-Santa Hats
-Candy

2. Banner

Supplies:
Paper
Scissors
String
Tape/Glue

To make a banner you could use holiday scrapbook paper, print scrap book patterns out, use holiday colored paper, or whatever you want. The next thing you will need to do is have a saying or phrase to cut out.

Ideas:
-"Happy Holidays"
-"Merry Christmas"
-"Happy New Year"

3. Nails

Supplies:
Nail Polish
 - Nail stripper (optional)
 - Nail dotter (optional)

To make some holiday nails I recommend getting some holiday colors. Most likely red, because green is such a rare color.

Ideas:
-Candy Cane Stripes
-Snowflakes
-Polka Dots

I hope you all enjoyed this post and you are a bit more ready for the holidays! Stay tuned for the next few days for some exciting posts and then another DIY on Sunday! I can't believe that blogmas is almost over :( I have to admit this is pretty fun but at the same time a bit of a nuisance.

Enjoy the rest of your week,
-Caroline

12.Creating Stop Motion Videos

Stop Motion videos take a lot of work. I made the one above, which is obviously quite short. I am a beginner though. I used the app on my iPhone called Stop Motion. It is an app that helps the process of making a stop motion video so much easier. And yes, we do have a YouTube channel now! Go check out Chic Lifestyle on YouTube. I will be posting more stop motion videos in the future and other videos too! Comment below what kind of extra videos you would like to see.

Update:
Ugh. 2 more weeks until vacation. It is so close yet so far away. I've got to stay positive though. Last weekend, I just went to a swim meet, tomorrow, I have a bunch of tests and quizzes. I'm thinking about making a twitter. Should we do it? Comment below.

Sorry this post is quite short. There isn't really much to talk about on stop motion videos. Although the experience was quite interesting and let me tell you, it is pretty time consuming too. Come back tomorrow at 3:00pm EST for a new blog post!

Happy Blogmas,

11.Outdoor Christmas DIY

I showed you all some indoor Christmas DIYs, so today I am going to be showing you some for outdoors.

1. Lights

First things first, it is important that you get OUTDOOR lights and not indoor lights. There is a difference. There are SO many things you can do with lights. You can outline your house, decorate the trees, make icicles with the lights, there are so many options.

2. Wreaths
Wreaths are something that is super simple but can get your house easily festive. Some people make them or you can just buy them.

3. Light up sculptures
At Target you can probably find those reindeer things that light up. They are pretty cool. But something as a replacement for this is doing spheres.

 Image result for light spheres

Here is a Pinterest post on how you can make these on your own.

Sorry that this post again is very short. I had a swim meet again today and I am so tired. So it was a little bit of a struggle making this for you all. I could literally fall asleep any minute now. So sorry this post didn't come out at 12:00pm EST like it usually does. I was at a swim meet.

Get some good sleep tonight,
-Caroline

10.Indoor Christmas DIY and Decor

I know, I keep changing around the schedule. Hopefully this will be the last time.

1. A Christmas Tree
A Christmas tree is something that could totally lift your spirits up in the holiday cheer. It doesn't matter what size. For some reason I find looking at Christmas trees totally relaxing.

2. Lights
Christmas tree lights are a cheap version of fairy lights. They are more colorful too. These could be used on your Christmas tree or somewhere else such as around bed frames, door frames, etc.

3. Snowflakes
There are two different ways to make snowflakes. The first way, is probably the way you learned in kindergarten. Where you fold up the paper and then cut it in different ways.

The second method, is a bit more extravagant. It is a bit hard to explain so here is a picture.

Since I had a little trouble explaining in words, I decided to make a little diagram to make the process a little bit easier.

I hopes that helps with making your snowflake. It is pretty hard to explain over a blog and writing.

Sorry this post is fairly short everyone. I have a swim meet today so the making of this post was pretty limited. Come back tomorrow at 12:00pm EST for Outdoor Christmas DIY!

9.Why I Dislike Holiday Giveaways

Once a few years ago, I entered a My Life As Eva holiday giveaway. You needed to tweet this picture and tag her and do a hashtag or something. I did it almost 1000 times. I mean she said enter as many times as possible. Then she announced the winner and I didn’t win. I was so angry I stopped liking her since I didn’t win. I know it’s stupid but it’s true. Since then I have never tried entering giveaways because I will most likely not win. And when I do enter, I think I am going to win, and then I don’t and it’s really upsetting.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. What has been your experience with holiday giveaways? Comment below.

Have a happy day,

-Caroline

8.Why Winter is the Best Season

Hello everyone, if you are convinced that Winter is the worst season possible, I am here to convince you why it isn't.

Everyone loves the holidays and you probably can't deny it. When you think Winter, you automatically think of Christmas, vacation, Hanukkah, New Year's, and more. And don't forget, snow. And don't even get me started with, "I hate snow" "I don't like snow". Just take a moment to realize that you might not remember that you absolutely loved snow when you were little. Why be a Debbie Downer? Snow is also the number one reason why people don't have school. So give mother nature a little thank you for the beauty she provides us with. Without snow, there wouldn't be the joy of getting a call early in the morning saying you have no school and then being able to sleep in as late as you want. Because pretty much everyone doesn't like school. And don't forget the beautiful and colorful sunsets that illuminate the sky beautifully and make for a perfect photo opportunity. That, only happens in Winter time. Don't tell me it's cold, there is such thing as a sweater.

Any persuasive comments to convince people that Winter is the best? Comment below! I hope you all are enjoying Blogmas so far. Posts Monday-Friday are at 3:00 EST and Saturday-Sunday at 12:00 EST. Don't know what your time is if you are not in the timezone EST? Google it!

xoxo,
Caroline

6.Reacting to Regular People Try Competitive Swimsuits

Today I am going to be reacting to Buzzfeed’s Regular People Try Competitive Swimsuits. Being a swimmer myself I know this is going to be interesting. So let’s just get started.

reacting1.PNG

First off without even starting the video I notice that in the thumbnail of the video there is a person wearing a ripped tech suit. Right off the bat, I know that this is going to be a cringey video for me.

reacting2.PNG

Everyone seems so shocked on how small tech suits are. That is what they are for, it helps suck in your body so you can glide along the water better.

reacting4.PNG
After 10 minutes this is slightly expected. But, you can see that she is trying to put on the tech suit like pants and just pull it up her leg. I was taught that you are supposed to scrunch up the leg and pull it up as far up you leg as possible.

reacting5.5.PNG

It is expected that people are having trouble breathing in the tech suit, especially for girls. There is so much compression that it is often constricting to breathing.

reacting5.PNG

reacting6.PNG

When I was this I was like, What is this?? THEY BOTH RIPPED THEIR TECH SUITS!!! NOOOOOOOOO.
They ripped around $500 suits!!!

reacting7.PNG

It’s true and it’s soo cool. Also just getting out of the water seeing the water repel off the suit itself is pretty amazing.

reacting8.PNG

People really should be bowing down to any swimmer. Swimming is a really difficult sport and people don’t realize that. Some people don’t even think swimming is a sport. What the heck is that about? Swimming is the most difficult sport! (Post about why? Comment below)

reacting9.PNG\

This is just another cringey picture of people cutting their about $500 tech suit to get it off. No big deal (sarcasm). I mean to be honest, they are already ripped so what is the point in keeping it to do anything else at this point.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. I know it was different from other posts but why not change it up for once? I have some pretty exciting posts in store for you all so get excited! And don’t forget to subscribe so you know when posts come out. Sometimes I post more than just at 12:00 EST on Sundays. I also will be doing a post about why swimming is the hardest sport.

Have a great day everyone,
-Caroline

5.Computer Decor

When you have a computer, it’s a bit boring to just leave it blank. So I have come up with a few ideas and tips on helping you decorate your computer.

First thing I recommend is putting a case on your computer. Not only will it protect your computer, it will be very helpful in the decoration process of your computer. Using a case on your computer you can put the stickers on the case so just incase you don’t like the stickers you put on your case, you can remove them or get a new case. It is a little bit like getting a phone case except for a computer.

For decoration I have seen a lot of people use brand stickers from either your favorite brands or random brands. You can get some brand stickers by buying them or they send you something when you buy something.

I have also mentioned so many times DecalGirl. Check out my blog posts What to do: tumblr feed and What to do: more with tumblr feed

You can also buy stickers from places like Etsy, Redbubble, and Amazon. You can get a link to the places if you click the word.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and you are now able to bling up your computerrrrr!

Stay Fab,
-Caroline 💖

4.Update

So here's the thing. I know it says on the Blogmas Info. post that there was supposed to be Indoor holiday DIY today but that will be later on. I will be continuously updating that post. I made an outline of what blogmas posts I would do back in the beginning of November. I made different posts kind of scattered in the order. Over that time I removed, edited, and added posts to that list. Just before blogmas started, I only had 11 posts done out of 24. And another stressful part is that I was stupid enough to write the posts in non chronological order. So when it came to the 29th of November I was stuck with only the first 3 days of blogmas fully done, a blank for day 4, and some others done all scattered. I'm actually quite glad that I started my blogmas plan back in the beginning of November otherwise I would have been unbelievably stressed now. I started early because I wanted to make sure that each and every single one of my posts were pretty good quality. So that is my little rant about blogmas. Sorry about that.

Since the first part was a little rant update about the realness behind the making of blogmas, why not just do an update on my life. So school has been okay. Some days are good and some are pretty bad. I'm pretty much so done right now though. I went back to club swimming after school swimming. I now have clear retainers that I have to wear 24/7 and I can barely talk with them... Let's just say I don't wear them during class unless there is a test or something so I don't embarrass myself. I also wear them at home and on the weekend. My orthodontist said it was okay to wear them swimming but it don't really think so.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Sorry it probably wasn't that great but I promise that I have some pretty rad posts coming up and also sorry that I did not post exactly at 12:00pm EST. But if you subscribe by entering your email in the little box on the upper right, then you will be notified when I post.

3.Organization to Survive School

School will be finishing up soon and pretty much everyone is tired of school. We literally just had a vacation, but all we want to do now is be on vacation forever. These types of organization will hopefully help you study while you struggle to finish up those last few weeks of school.

1.Calendar
I have recently found out that if you go onto google calendar and there is a section called more. Click on that and there is an option print. And what is cool is that you can print out your week, month, day, etc. This can be super convenient for school because you could use the week setting as an agenda calendar.

2.Printable help
You all know I love studyblrs and they do actually come in handy sometimes with helpful ways on how to study or stay unstressed. So recently I found a link to a dropbox where there were printable sheets on “topics to study”, “dictionaries”, “formulas to remember”, and “exam schedule”. So, here is the link:

3.Apps
We are always on our phones, let’s just admit it. Our phones can be a super handy tool, so I went onto another one of my favorite sources, Pinterest. I came across a pin that looked super helpful and it was really detailed.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I hope this will help you survive the last weeks or days of school. Don't slack off, come on! I know this post may have been a bit lengthy but I want to put lots of effort into all these posts for you all to enjoy.

Stay strong 💕,
-Caroline
