DIY Sugar Frosted Glass Rim

Description:
Often times when you see a frosted glass rim it is with an alcoholic beverage or a fancy drink. Frosted glass rims are actually really easy thing to DIY and turn a boring drink into something fancy. This is great for parties or events.

Difficulty:
🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨

Supplies:
- A Glass
- Liquid
  - Water, juice, alcoholic drink
- Sugar or salt
- 2 containers

Steps:
1. Take the 2 containers and fill one with sugar or salt and the other with your liquid of choice.
2. Take your glass and dip it about 1 cm into your liquid filled container
3. Then quickly dip the wet rim of your glass into the sugar filled container
4. After a few seconds remove the glass and gently blow to remove and excess
5. Fill your glass with a beverage of choice
6. Enjoy!

I hope you all enjoyed this post. Let me know if you enjoy this kind of DIY post format. I know this post is a bit strange and out of the box of what I normally post, but I thought it would be fun.

Valentines Day DIY

Valentines Day is in 2 days. And to be honest, I was so close to not making this post. But then I thought, No. I have time, this is a perfect thing to do. I made this post yesterday, and I had a swim meet yesterday and today, and I woke up at 5:30am both days. So I have been pretty wiped. I'm just praying that there is going to be a snow day tomorrow so I can sleep in.

3D Conversation Heart:

Difficulty: πŸŽ¨πŸŽ¨πŸŽ¨πŸŽ¨πŸŽ¨

Supplies✂:
-Paper
-Scissors
-Glue/Tape
-Markers

StepsπŸ“˜:
1. Cut out 2 hearts that are the same size out of a piece of paper
2. Write a phrase on one of the hearts
3. Cut a strip to whatever width you want
4. Cut small rectangles to attach the strip to the heart
5. Attach the strip to the hearts on either side

Ta Da! You have yourself a 3D conversation heart. If you want you can put items inside or just leave it just like that and give it to someone.

"Happy Valentines Day" Banner:

Difficulty: 🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨

Supplies✂:
-Paper
-Scissors
-Tape/Glue
-String (optional)
-Markers

StepsπŸ“˜:
1. Cut out 5 hearts for the word "happy", 9 hearts for the word "valentine", and 3 hearts for the word "day"
2. Write a letter on each heart to spell out the phrase
3. There are 2 options:
Taping your hearts to the wall:
-This is a more simple approach by using washi tape to tape this to the wall and then removing it when needed. Although, this method is more of a one time use thing.
Putting your hearts on a string:
-This method takes more time, but in the end it is possibly better because the sign is reusable. Using hot glue to apply the hearts to the string will make your banner last much longer than it will with tape or regular glue.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I didn't put pictures because I wanted you all to be creative and use your imagination to create these DIYs. (Also I was lazy) I tried to make this post as good as possible, I was really tired yesterday and I am still tired today. I'm thinking about a post about my weekend tomorrow or Tuesday? Comment below what you think. AND, I am going to be posting 7 days from Wednesday to the next next Tuesday. And I am going to be posting for 7 days to help the ladies out there with their period. So get Excited!!!!

DIY Bubble Art

I once saw this post on Instagram from Nifty DIY @buzzfeednifty and I was so interested. It said that all you needed was a cup, straw, paint, soap, and water.
⚠I am going to be showing you all my fails and successes⚠
The third trial was a success.

Trial 1:

  1. Lots of water put into cup (about 3/4)
  2. Added a few pumps of soap
  3. Added paint and mix
  4. Blow bubbles
  5. Put paper to bubbles made
This technique did not work. I am thinking it did not work because I added the water first, then the soap and then the paint. When I added the paint it sank to the bottom when the soap was all at the top and was still white (paint color was blue). Therefore, the bubbles turned out clear and nothing happened.
THIS METHOD DID NOT WORK

Trial 2:
  1. Add paint into cup (this time the paint was gold)
  2. Add a few pumps of soap into cup
  3. Fill cup with lots of water (about 3/4 again)
  4. Blow bubbles
  5. Put paper to bubbles made
This technique did not work either. My guess for why this is happening is because the paint I chose (gold) was too light. When I looked at the paper, there were faint shimmery spots but I wanted to see the whole bubble imprint. I also think I put wayyyyy too much water. Because when I let my little sister blow bubbles, she blew really hard and water went flying all over.
THIS METHOD DID NOT WORK

Trial 3:
  1. Put a large amount of paint into cup (I used blue paint again)
  2. Put about 5 pumps of soap
  3. Mix well until soap turns into the color of the paint
  4. add a little bit of water (about 1/4)
  5. Blow bubbles
  6. Put paper to bubbles
This technique finally did work. I think what is needed is a high concentration of soap and paint to a little bit of water. Then when you blow the bubbles it doesn't look like there is paint, but there is. And when you put the paper to the bubbles it shows a great design. Pictures will be below.
THIS METHOD DID WORK

🎨 On the mid-left side of the picture there is a large blue blob. This happened because bubbles split over the side of the cup I was using. I thought it would be a cool idea to get all the bubbles onto my paper, but it just turned into a large mess. But overall it looks really good.

🎨 I did use regular printer paper which if you can see the paper curled up. Probably if you want to use this other than just for fun purposes, I would use card stock paper.

🎨 With this bubble art we have just created you could make cards, use it as literal art that you hang up, create notebook covers, or do whatever you want.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. I did put a lot of work into this post which is one of my goals for 2017. Comment below what some of your goals are for 2017. Stay tuned next week for another blog post at 12:00pm EST http://everytimezone.com/ (This link is to help aid you in what time it will be in your time zone at 12:00pm EST. I do sometimes post at other times during the week so please subscribe if you would like to be notified of when I post.

New Years DIY

New Years is so soon which means the end of 2016. So, lets make some amazing DIYs to conclude 2016 and move onto 2017. I put lots of work into these DIYs for you all and tried to make them really nice looking and easy to make at the same time.

DIY Flag Banner:

To make this flag banner really easy, I found a template online that you can either cut multiple out or cut one out and use as a stencil. I used both ways and combined them together and you really couldn't tell. I got them from this website.
http://rejuvaluxs.org/banner-template.html

Another option is to look up like "flag banner stencil" or "banner template" on google and pick whichever one you like best out.

When printing these out, you can either print them on the page and keep it portrait or change it so it is landscape. This is actually important because printing it portrait will make the stencil smaller whereas if you print it landscape, your stencil will be soooooo much larger.

On this banner we will be writing "Happy New Year" And I originally wanted to use some letter stencils I already had, but then I couldn't find them and I thought maybe that's actually a good thing because not everyone has letter stencils. So I went online to look for letter stencils and I came across a capitals letter sheet that I thought was perfect.

Same thing as the flags stencil, I just still used portrait style when printing. I just searched "letters stencils" on google to get to this picture and there are also many other options to choose from. I am not including the url because I am not 100% sure if it is going to work. But if you search "letters stencils" on google and come across this picture, this is the one I used.

Image result for letters stencils

Since I didn't have an exacto knife and also I really didn't want to deal with trying to get everything super precise and try to get the middle part in some letters, I just cut those out.

And then I positioned the letter stencil on the flag banner and colored in the letter stencil with marker of my choice. And it actually turned out really well.

DIY 2017 numbers:

For the numbers I just hand drew all these numbers and I used a half sheet of paper so the numbers would be pretty large and visible. You could keep the numbers just the way they are now, but I decided to step it up and make it look super sparkly and amazing by using paint and glitter.

So adding the paint is pretty unessesary. But I did use a clear-ish glitter which looked best on top of a color paint. But feel free to use any color paint or glitter. Also if you are doing both paint and glitter like I did, to save time and money, you can actually apply the glitter on the wet paint so there is no need for glue.

The finished product turned out really good just like the flag banner so here is a picture of that.

lol photographing skills are like -100% for the past two pictures.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the next thing I did was attach these thing to my wall with WASHI TAPE. Washi tape is really great for those parents who worry about having tape on their walls and worrying that it will rip off the paint or things like that. And I don't blame them, but this is a perfect solution.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to now talk to you all about New Year's. It is known that once the clock strikes midnight that you kiss someone. I just want to let you all know that you should not fell pressured to kiss someone especially if you are not in a relationship. I mean when you were little you didn't kiss someone so why should you feel the pressure to do it now.

And please if you are going to be drinking please take it easy. I know this is probably stupid to hear from a 14 year old but its true. Just be cautious and don't drink so much that you literally black out drunk or do something that you might regret.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you all enjoyed this post. I put a lot of work into this post so I hope you all enjoyed it. I also hope you all had an amazing Christmas and whatever holiday you celebrate and have a happy new year!

18.Last Minute Gift DIY

Omg Chrsitmas is just 7 days away!! Alsoooo have you checked out our Twitter @chicslifestyle? On our Twitter you can see a little bit more into my life than when I do blog posts. So since Christmas is so close, I have a few last minute DIY gifts.

1. Spa Kit
This is a pretty simple kit. Get your friend some nail polishes, nail care, face masks, moisturizers, etc. This is too help your friend relax. Everyone could use a spa day so this is perfect for everyone.

2. Bath bombs
Bath bombs are pretty cool and relaxing. They can also take some good pictures with them. Showing off the array of colors coming from your bath bomb.

3. A Memory book
This is probably a better gift to give your friend on their birthday, but for this, you gather gifts of you two together or just of her and memories. Something that your friend can pick up when they are having a bad day and smile.

4. Hot Chocolate Mix
All you need for this is a mason jar, hot chocolate mix, marshmallows, and possibly candy canes, and put them all together in a mason jar to give your friend a beverage to stay warm.

I  hope you enjoyed this post. I'm sorry it is short, but if you saw what I tweeted yesterday, I do have a cold so I am not feeling too well at the moment.

Don't stress,

16.DIY Pusheen Shirt Tutorial

So I know in my past Pusheen DIY I did many options with iron on transfers. I quickly added a picture of a shirt I created with fabric markers. I was asked if I could make a tutorial of this DIY.

For the shirt I created, I used this design. What is great about this DIY, is that you don't need to flip the image at all. Here was my finished result, and the actual picture by the finished result (sorry the reference picture is black and white, I don't own a colored printer).

For this tutorial, I will be using this picture of Pusheen. Once again, you can use any Pusheen picture you would like. Click any of the word Pusheen, for I have put a link to the Pusheen website on every single one (comment below if one isn't linked). Also I recommend searching Pusheen on Google, there are so many options.

The good thing about this picture is that it is really huge. I know this one isn't but check this link out http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/383/575/834.gif.

So First, I printed out the picture. Black and white for this is fine, because you can just have a reference picture on the computer or mobile for color reference. Then I put the printed picture inside my shirt and put my shirt up to a window to trace the lines. I used black fabric marker to trace the lines and colored sections that were colored on the picture.

Sorry I did not have a t-shirt to do the design but there is an example above where I did it with a mermaid Pusheen picture.

14.Holiday DIY

The holidays are so close, yet so far. And thoughts of vacation are taking over my brain!

Today I am going to be showing you all some more DIYs for the holidays. I am sorry that these posts are not great quality. It is honestly hard to be doing posts like this in the middle of the week. I should have planned way better for this.

1. Wrapping Paper

Supplies:
Paper
-Markers
-Stamps
-Ink pads

There are many different ways you could make wrapping paper. You could up-cycle a brown paper bag. Using the inside of the paper bag you could do a simplistic design like snowflakes, do a stamp design, etc. Get creative!

Design Ideas:
-Polka Dots
-Snowflakes
-"Happy Holidays"
-"Merry Christmas"
-Santa Hats
-Candy

2. Banner

Supplies:
Paper
Scissors
String
Tape/Glue

To make a banner you could use holiday scrapbook paper, print scrap book patterns out, use holiday colored paper, or whatever you want. The next thing you will need to do is have a saying or phrase to cut out.

Ideas:
-"Happy Holidays"
-"Merry Christmas"
-"Happy New Year"

3. Nails

Supplies:
Nail Polish
 - Nail stripper (optional)
 - Nail dotter (optional)

To make some holiday nails I recommend getting some holiday colors. Most likely red, because green is such a rare color.

Ideas:
-Candy Cane Stripes
-Snowflakes
-Polka Dots

I hope you all enjoyed this post and you are a bit more ready for the holidays! Stay tuned for the next few days for some exciting posts and then another DIY on Sunday! I can't believe that blogmas is almost over :( I have to admit this is pretty fun but at the same time a bit of a nuisance.

Enjoy the rest of your week,
-Caroline

12.Creating Stop Motion Videos

Stop Motion videos take a lot of work. I made the one above, which is obviously quite short. I am a beginner though. I used the app on my iPhone called Stop Motion. It is an app that helps the process of making a stop motion video so much easier. And yes, we do have a YouTube channel now! Go check out Chic Lifestyle on YouTube. I will be posting more stop motion videos in the future and other videos too! Comment below what kind of extra videos you would like to see.

Update:
Ugh. 2 more weeks until vacation. It is so close yet so far away. I've got to stay positive though. Last weekend, I just went to a swim meet, tomorrow, I have a bunch of tests and quizzes. I'm thinking about making a twitter. Should we do it? Comment below.

Sorry this post is quite short. There isn't really much to talk about on stop motion videos. Although the experience was quite interesting and let me tell you, it is pretty time consuming too. Come back tomorrow at 3:00pm EST for a new blog post!

Happy Blogmas,
-Caroline

11.Outdoor Christmas DIY

I showed you all some indoor Christmas DIYs, so today I am going to be showing you some for outdoors.

1. Lights

First things first, it is important that you get OUTDOOR lights and not indoor lights. There is a difference. There are SO many things you can do with lights. You can outline your house, decorate the trees, make icicles with the lights, there are so many options.

2. Wreaths
Wreaths are something that is super simple but can get your house easily festive. Some people make them or you can just buy them.

3. Light up sculptures
At Target you can probably find those reindeer things that light up. They are pretty cool. But something as a replacement for this is doing spheres.

 Image result for light spheres

Here is a Pinterest post on how you can make these on your own.

Sorry that this post again is very short. I had a swim meet again today and I am so tired. So it was a little bit of a struggle making this for you all. I could literally fall asleep any minute now. So sorry this post didn't come out at 12:00pm EST like it usually does. I was at a swim meet.

Get some good sleep tonight,
-Caroline

10.Indoor Christmas DIY and Decor

I know, I keep changing around the schedule. Hopefully this will be the last time.

1. A Christmas Tree
A Christmas tree is something that could totally lift your spirits up in the holiday cheer. It doesn't matter what size. For some reason I find looking at Christmas trees totally relaxing.

2. Lights
Christmas tree lights are a cheap version of fairy lights. They are more colorful too. These could be used on your Christmas tree or somewhere else such as around bed frames, door frames, etc.

3. Snowflakes
There are two different ways to make snowflakes. The first way, is probably the way you learned in kindergarten. Where you fold up the paper and then cut it in different ways.

The second method, is a bit more extravagant. It is a bit hard to explain so here is a picture.

Since I had a little trouble explaining in words, I decided to make a little diagram to make the process a little bit easier.

I hopes that helps with making your snowflake. It is pretty hard to explain over a blog and writing.

Sorry this post is fairly short everyone. I have a swim meet today so the making of this post was pretty limited. Come back tomorrow at 12:00pm EST for Outdoor Christmas DIY!

Testing DIY Matte Lipstick

Welcome to Chic Lifestyle Beauty

So I'm one of those people who wants matte lipstick but is never able to get some. So when I saw a DIY Matte Lipstick on YouTube by AwesomenessTV I had to try it out. So today I tried it out.

What you will be needing for this DIY is matte foundation, oil (cocoanut, almond, etc), eye shadow, plastic surface for mixing. In this picture below I know my foundation it weird looking. I used it all up and I had to add oil into the bottle to get as much out as I could. Then I added in some purple eye shadow and mixed it up and it ended up looking brown. I also swatched it on my hand and then put it on my lips with a q-tip. I noticed that on my lips the solution turned out much darker.

And it worked! It didn't dry your lips and it does dry to become matte. I tried doing this DIY with tinted moisturizer and it didn't work out. I also noticed that when using tinted moisturizer, you needed to use so much more eye shadow. Also I tried it with a light brown eye shadow and it turned out to be a yellow-ish color.

I hope you all like this post. Comment below if you want more beauty posts kind of like this one. New posts every Sunday, and Happy October everyone!

DIY Slime

Halloween is in a few weeks so why not decorate now? Slime is super awesome and can be used for Halloween or even at other times. I made this slime when I was bored, but you can do whatever you want with this. The fun part is that you can make it however you want!!

Here is what you will need:

4-5 oz Glue (school glue, clear glue, gel glue, etc)
1 tsp Borax
1/3 cup Water (mixed with Borax)
1 cup Water (mixed with glue)
Food coloring (optional)
Glitter or add in (optional)

My Slime turned out to be a mixture of pink yellow and white. I tried to take a picture but it turned out really badly. If you search DIY Slime on YouTube there are plenty of ways and recipes. I hope you all enjoyed this post. Sorry that it is on the shorter side, or do you like when it is shorter? Comment below if you prefer a short or long post. New posts every Sunday!

Pusheen DIY

I think it is safe to say everyone likes Pusheen the cat. Please tell me I am not the only one who is obsessed with Pusheen. I mean, who couldn't??

Today I am going to be showing you all different DIYs you can do with your amazing Pusheen pictures. I definitely am going to be making every single of these DIYs.

DIY 1: Workout T-Shirt

For this DIY, we will be using this picture of Pusheen working out. For this DIY, you will be needing iron on transfer sheets, a printer (preferably colored), and a t-shirt, tank top, or where ever you want to put this.

First, you will need to flip the picture, unless you want your picture to turn out flipped. Here is how you do it. First go into google docs, then insert a drawing, put your picture into the drawing, right click your picture, and go to rotate, flip horizontally. Then save and close, here are the results.

Next, you want to make sure you follow the instructions on your iron on transfer sheets. And then, enjoy! Comment below what you thought of this DIY if you made it!

DIY 2: Duvet Cover

In New England, the winters are brutal, I know its not winter yet, but even in the fall it snows. So it is really uncommon not to have a duvet. You want to make sure you have a duvet cover, otherwise your duvet will turn yellow... Here are the pictures we will be using for this DIY.

Like before, you need to flip the images and go according to your iron on transfer sheet instructions. Also these are just some recommendation pictures for your DIYs. Feel free to go search Pusheen on Google.

DIY 3: Apron

In this DIY we will be needing an apron, a Pusheen picture, iron on transfer sheets, and scissors. This is the picture we will be using.

Add this onto your apron and it will make a super cute customized apron!

Also I'm just letting you all know that you do not need to do this technique. I created a DIY Pusheen shirt with sharpies and fabric markers. Here are the results.

I hope you all enjoyed these Pusheen DIYs. Here are all the Flipped Pusheen Images used in this post if you want to use them. Comment below if you made any of these DIYs. If so, what did you think? New posts every Sunday and do me a favor, please subscribe by entering your email into the box on the side.

- Caroline πŸ˜Ί

P.S. There will be a post about how to make a t-shirt like the one I did in the 2 last photos. πŸ‘

DIY Back to School Room 😭

Unfortunately I have to go back to school soon... I'm entering high school and I am soooo nervous. If you have any tips for me for high school, please comment below. I think it is important to prep your room to get ready for the school year. You'll be needing motivation for a whole 365 days in the same building seeing the same people. Also I fell like high school is so much of a big deal. You are only spending 4 years there then you can get your liscense and boom your moving out to go to college. Teachers are saying, "Don't worry, college is so far away." Uh HELLO? College and so much more stress is coming our way in the span of 4 years. Please tell me I'm not the only one stressing out about this. Okay, enough ranting, time to get into the post.

INSPIRATION BOARD:
I think a big part of motivation is by inspiration to do things. This is my in school it may help for you to create a inspiration board with pictures you enjoy, people that inspire you, goals, good grade, part of your bucket list, what ever you want. You could put this on a cork board or just keep it on a piece of paper. Whichever one is easier. Please do not go out and buy any materials from the store. All you  need for this is some paper and a printer (for pictures if you want to print any) and that is it. These DIYs are supposed to be inexpensive.

CALENDAR
A calendar is really useful when you want to plan out all of your school activities and when there are tests and projects due. It is a really easy way to stay organized. And again kind of similar to the inspiration board, do not go out to buy a calendar, there is no need to be doing that.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, I know it was little on the shorter side and if you have seen my other posts that is probably strange. But please enjoy the summer while you have it!!!
